Colin Harris was appointed Music Director of the Boroondara Symphonic Band at the commencement of 2001.
He has had a long association with community bands in Melbourne having previously conducted the Balwyn Youth Concert Band, Kew Youth Band and the Eltham Concert Band.
As a performer, he has been a playing member of various ensembles, including the Kew Band and the Grainger Wind Symphony.
Currently, Colin is a music teacher at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, teaching both classroom and instrumental music in the boy's Middle School.
Colin studied music pedagogy at Victoria College (Deakin University) and later went on to complete a Master's Degreein music performance psychology at Melbourne University.

Assistant Conductor - Claire Ferguson
Claire began her musical studies on piano at the age of 8 and started playing the trumpet at the age of 12. In 1992, she joined what was to become the Boroondara Symphonic Band on trumpet and was awarded life membership in 2008. She has performed with many other ensembles such as Surrey Hills Chamber Orchestra, Frankston Symphony Orchestra, Southern Area Concert Band, Heidelberg Wind Symphony and the Victorian Concert Orchestra and is a member of the Zelman Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne’s oldest orchestra.
She has played in various musical theatre productions and in 2006 she performed as part of the opening ceremony for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Claire also plays the piano, guitar, french horn and flugelhorn and is thrilled to be the new assistant conductor of the Boroondara Symphonic Band. |
